Description
My Father in Law purchased this car about 20 years ago. It was a little rough then. He decieded to restore it. After a complete disassembly & sand blasting all the paint off, It was placed on a rotissirie and left to set in a garage in Las Vegas for about 10 years untouched. I got the car from him in October of 2003 and started to rebuild it for him. It needed new fenders, quarter panels, floor pans, trunk pan, rear wheel houses and front inner fender aprons. I had it painted in PPG Cobalt blue. The assembly process included new gray Italian leather throughout with ponies embossed in the Corbeau seats, door panels & inner trunk lid. And a Mercedes triple layer cloth top. I installed a 1988 5.0 HO engine with polyurethane motor mounts. A modified AOD transmission with Trick Flow deep pan & Lokar cables, shifter & dip stick.Polyurethane transmission mount and hand made stainless transmission lines.A 9" Ford rear end with 4:11 gears and a Detroit locker.SSBC 4 wheel disc brakes with hand made stainless lines & a Lokar hand brake with braided stainless lines. All new springs front & rear with polygraphite bushings. New upper and lower control arms.A hand polished Total Control firewall to shock tower brace (also called an export brace).A Firestone air ride rear suspension with an on board compressor.Flaming River Rack and pinion steering.Flaming River tilt column.KYB gas shocks. 1 1/8" front sway bar and a 1" rear sway bar. The car also features Vintage Air with a polished Sanderson compressor and polished billet dryer, a hand polished Be Cool radiator with dual 16" electric fans, polished billet recovery tank, Hand made stainless steel return lines and a hand fabricated polished stainless firewall panel.Haneline white face Gauges and stainless dash panels.Tri bar blue dot headlights.Electric Life windows with billet switches and hand made bezels.A Lecarra steering wheel.A Custom Autosound stereo.A new wiring harness from Highway 101.And a trunk mounted Optima battery. It also has A 650 cfm Holley carburetor on a Edelbrock Permastar polished manifold, K&N air filter housing with an Accel cool blue filter element.Mallory billet electric fuel pump, pressure regulator & filter.Hand made stainless steel fuel and A/C lines.JBA ceramic coated headers, 2 1/2" exhaust with a "H" pipe through Flo-Pro mufflers and 3 1/2" rolled stainless tips.An MSD 6AL ignition and MSD Pro Billet distributor & MSD 8mm wires.Edelbrock polished reverse flow water pump.Powermaster high output chrome alternator.March sepentine belt system. It rides on Raceline wheels 17x9"275R40'S rear & 17x8"245R40"S front Hankook Ventus tires. My father in Law thought he would never see it run again. The first time I started it and took him for a ride he got a smile that still hasn't left his face. I finished (well almost finished) the car in April of 2006 and we have enjoyed showing it every chance we get. The car has received numerous "Best of Show" awards and many trophies. The last one was at the 2007 Hot August Nights show in Reno. Out of 5500 registered cars they only award 32 trophies. We received the AT&T award. It was also featured as the centerfold of Mustang Monthly in November 2006.For my Father in Law and I it is most definitley "A DREAM COME TRUE IN COBALT BLUE" Thanks for looking! We would greatly appreciate your vote! LES

Congratulations lesandsherrie.

Your beautiful car was just too tough to beat. Throughout the contest I felt that it would come down to your car or my car. I would have felt robbed if any other car but yours beat my nearly perfect '58 Bonneville. Have fun at the race.

Let here it for Fords! Mustangs are the automotive icon of this decade and this is a gorgeous example... and a convertible to boot! I've always been a Ford Girl (I have a 69 Torino Converible and a 66 T-Bird Town Hardtop), so I'm really hoping you win. Congratulation on your well deserved win for the decade. I'll keep my fingers crossed that you win the grand prize!

Many congrats on this impressive Mustang, and your decade win. I appreciate the time and effort that is evident in this car - many hours toiling in the garage - expertly done!
